I live in rural Cedar Falls Ia.
I have 2 sons - Brian & David. They
are both out on their own. (?)
I have a full time job at a photography lab and a part-time job as a photographer & digital artist. Love all things digital, hence the blog
name.
I got this from Amandas blog. And I really needed an idea for today so I took the challenge! ;) Here's the tag: 1) Grab the nearest book 2) Turn to page 123 3) Find and post the 5th sentence Here's mine "Rain waved and walked away again." Not too exciting. The book is The Wednesday Letters, and I've just started it but so far it is a about a couple who die the same night - she has a heart attack and he has a brain tumor. hmmmm - depressing. But supposedly he writes a letter to his wife every Wednesday - so it must be romantic too. I don't think Bart has EVER written me a letter much less once a week. The closest we get is grocery lists or Gone Fishing notes. I'll let you know if it's worth reading but it is a new york times bestseller.
April and I got a new camera for the business. I'm in love! It is a super cool professional Canon Mark II. We had two shoots today - an 18 month old and an engagement. This is Nate & Nikki getting married in June. I love the pics - the color is outstanding don't ya think? April took the pics , I carried the gear. Can't wait to use it with Kyle's senior pics.
Well, not really - but kinda. It's called photoshopexpress and it's cool. Anyone can use it to edit their photos and also put up web galleries FOR FREE. Check out this video on how it works, from one of my fav photoshop teachers. Photoshop Express - Getting Started
It is very user friendly and even though I have photoshop I will probably use it too.
We haven't found anyone else to pose in the wedding dress - so April (my partner in photography biz) did it. We had to do a little pinning in the back but it fit pretty good and we had fun taking the pictures. She got married at the courthouse , me too, so she had never worn a real wedding dress. A very pretty bride don't ya think?
My Mom told me about this CBS report. One of the real soldiers in this movie is my moms sisters grandson. So a 1st cousin once removed? Don't know how that works. He was featured on a 60 minute special along with his brother when they were serving in Iraq. The producer of this feature was impressed and contacted him about doing a movie. So.... he is filming with Matt Damon and is actually in this clip. Watch for Adam Wendling, they interviewed him.
I love this picture of Bart with his Mom. It was a mothers day trip with Bart, Rick and Shirley. The paint is not quite finished yet. I have work to do on the eyes. Bart got Chinese food for supper (yucch) and a cherry cheesecake for his birthday. We are too old to go out and celebrate.
I am having Fun with my pics from today. I think this will one will have to be printed BIG! She didn't seem happy but she still is photogenic. Sweet Nora Ann.
The Hanselmanns came to visit today. We took alot of pictures of Nora - Nathan is way too busy. But here are some cute ones. Nora didn't really smile til her Grandpa came home. He must just be funny looking!
Grandma's house. The note is one Shirley saved from Bart. He thinks he wrote "Reeky" on purpose cuz he was always following him around not because he couldn't spell. The things Moms
We got a little water in the basement yesterday from the snow melting. So Bart was getting his memories off the floor. We've been looking through some of his pictures he had stored down there and here is one I had never seen. Bart & Mom 1959. Time to get them all in a safer place.
I forgot my March calendar page - We're only almost half way through! From Dale's Farm Last Fall. And also a paint of Dale's favorite truck with Dale in it, while it still fits the season. They (whoever they are) are saying snow tomorrow. NOOOOOOOO!
This is Kayla. I took her senior pictures last October. My friend Lisa helped me out that day. She is Kaylas Mom's friend and recommended me for the job. Yeah - I like to do seniors. I think she looks a little like Kate Walsh (Greys Anatomy)
The (big) Boys went ice fishing at Sweets Marsh on Saturday. Rick sent this picture of Cole from his phone so I could post it. Maybe Kay will show this to Cole.?
Amanda tagged me (and other bloggers) for nicknames. Well, Bart used to call me Cupcake, we heard it in a Steven Segal movie and it stuck. But I haven't heard that in a long time. Must have been when he liked me. The Big nickname in our house is everyone's middle name is Allen. My boys' middle names ARE both Allen , tho they might spell it different. Their Dad's middle name was Allen too. I know Weird, not my idea. So now when we are using a nickname it's usually Bart Allen, Sharon Allen, Duke Allen and even Lizzie Allen. If you hang around long enough at our house your middle name will be Allen too. So there ya go Amanda Allen.
I am working on a project for a girl I work with. Her son was part of the team. I thought Mom and Dad and maybe Bruce and Kay would be interested in this picture.
Maxwell (Max) Kenneth Caley born yesterday afternoon at 1:34 P.M. to Bartley & Lori. Mom and Baby doing good. He was 9lbs 7oz. I got these pics from the Caley blog. He's a doll!
Oh for the days when my kids liked to get their pictures taken. David always had the same sweet smile for me. He still can be sweet when he wants to. He's living back home for awhile. One of his friends is buying a house, so he'll move then, but I think he's enjoying living with Mom and Bart again.
I made David and one of his friends pose in front of my new backdrop. This doesn't show the backdrop off, but look at this tough guy. Yup, he looks like his dad. I told him I wouldn't post this but he doesn't read my blog either. Rotten kids.
